We
are looking for a partner - a
Chinese
company in the US or a
US
company in China.
We
would like to develop a web site
of
medicine plant growers
and
herbal apothecaries
in
the US and in China.
Our
vision of LocalFarms.CN is
reflected
in the deal reached between
Tongrentang
- a 350 year old herbal
apothecary
and Wisconsin
Ginseng
Growers. Tongrentang
has
1,000 stores in China.
These
stores will sell
400,000
pounds of Wisconsin ginseng
over
a five year period. Americans,
like
myself, buy Chinese ginseng
root,
while many Chinese buy
American
ginseng. This comes
from
healing/cooling theories and
practices
of ancient medicine.

A
GLOBAL ADDRESS for CONSUMERS in the US and CHINA. Update on
China's Food Safety Law. Sequence of Events: See Xinhua.cn - 2/
28/2009, article by Yuan Ye and Wu Jing.
China's top
legislature, by a vote of 165 to 7, provided the legal basis for
more monitoring, safety, recall of products and increases in
punishment for offenders. The law went into effect thruout China
6-1- 2009.
In my research, I looked for some good
abstracts on the Chinese food safety bill - preferably, clearly
written by experts. Take a look at the blog published by an
attorney specializing in corporate finance law – David Wright
Tremaine, LLP. His website is corpfinblog.com. The
abstract is written by Ron Cai, Lin Zhu and Kevin Moore on August
17, 2009. Tremaine's site also has a March, 2009 advisory on these
new Chinese Food Safety Laws.
With US-China relations
improving at the higher levels of both governments (7/27/09
summit), we are blending/adapting/clarifying cultures, political
systems & economic systems ORIENTAL MIND & WESTERN MIND
are pragmatically adapting to the sharing of PEACE, POWER &
WEALTH.
LocalFarms.cn could be an international directory,
a forum and a marketplace for local, sustainable organic fruits,
vegetables, meats, fish, and dried goods – esp. organic teas.
This could be small, sustainable farms in California trading with
small, organic farms in China.
This domain is EASY to
remember, is suited for DIRECT NAVIGATION - is focused on food in
the midst of drought & food storage scarcity.
Extensive
amounts of GLOBAL CAPITAL are moving into water/food related
COMMODITIES. If you are interested in organic, food production in
CHINA, then
you
may want to read research done by Paul Rye KLEDAL and Tuerxunbieke
SULITANG orgprints.org/11248.
This work focuses on “organization of organic vegetable
SUPPLY CHAINS in China” and “flexible property
rights/different regimes of SMALLHOLDER inclusion.” Here's more
study detail.
The
first organic tea was certified ORGANIC in 1990... China's organic
farmland of 2.3 million HA (a HA is a hectare which is 2.5 acres)
is about TWO PERCENT of China's 130 million HA of cultivated
land...This does not include areas preserved for WILDCRAFTING or
acreage being converted to organic.
Between 1978 and 1984,
most collective farming ended in China... Farmers grow on 30 year
leases that can be traded … (Ed. Note - there is continual,
property rights movement in China, so we will update this research
as we get more info for 2008/2009.)
VILLAGE CO-OPERATIVES
are comprised of 300 to 500 households … 80 PERCENT of farming
households cultivate 0.6 hectares (equal to 1.5 acres in the US) …
land allocation for ECONOMY OF SCALE is possible thru contracts
with counties, villages and farming co-operatives. August 1, 2009
